Eloise Allen
Graduate of Karen’s program

I am dyslexic. But I have an amazing tutor and friend named Karen. She has taught me all kinds of helpful things...and her program has changed my life.

Now I understand how words work, and I use Karen’s spelling tricks all the time. They’re really helpful!  Sometimes, I’ll be sitting in class and I’ll sing her spelling songs (in my head, not out loud!) and I’ll realize that I'm using the spelling rules!

I think that they should teach the Barton way in school so that everybody can learn why words are the way they are. That way, EVERYBODY could feel smart, like I do now. That’s why I worked very hard to complete the whole program.

To be honest, when I first started tutoring, I didn’t want to do it. It was hard and I was upset that I was going to have to do all this extra work. But Karen became a really good friend to me, and I actually WANTED to hang out with her! She’s very encouraging and fun. She knows that no one is perfect, and she encourage me to feel like, “I can do this!”

This program is definitely the hardest thing I’ve ever done. I gave up a lot of things and a lot of time to do this.

But it was WORTH it!
